Woman accuses Greg Kelly, son of police comissioner, of raping her

“Good Day New York” co-host Greg Kelly — son of Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly — was a no-show on the program Thursday morning after reports that a Manhattan woman had accused him of rape.

The woman told cops she had drinks with Kelly, 43, at the South Street Seaport Oct. 8 before he sexually assaulted her in the law office where she worked, sources said.

The accuser, who is around 30, did not report the alleged assault until Tuesday night, when she walked into the 13th Precinct stationhouse and gave her account, sources said.

Cops interviewed the woman, but because of the conflict created by probing the commissioner’s son, they quickly turned the case over to the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr.

Greg Kelly’s co-host, Rosanna Scotto, expressed her support for him as she walked into the FOX studios about 5:30 a.m.

"I love Greg. That's all I can say," Scotto said.

“Good Day New York” ran reports on the rape allegation and noted Greg Kelly’s denial but did not disclose his status with the program or explain why he wasn’t on the air.

Mr. Kelly, who is currently a co-anchor of “Good Day New York” on the Fox station WNYW (Channel 5), is a former NY1 political reporter. He served as a fighter pilot for nine years in the United States Marine Corps and holds the rank of major in the Reserves.

A few minutes after “Good Day New York” began on Thursday, one of the anchors reported the account of the accusation against Mr. Kelly and his lawyer’s statement was shown on the screen. No explanation was given for Mr. Kelly’s absence from the show.

He is currently the co-host of Good Day New York; previously was the co-host of Fox and Friends and a White House correspondent for Fox News. Morgellons: Mysterious Skin Disease

Morgellons (also called Morgellons disease or Morgellons syndrome) is a name given in 2002 by stay-at-home-mom Mary Leitaoto a proposed condition characterized by a range of cutaneous (skin) symptoms including crawling, biting, and stinging sensations (formication); finding fibers on or under the skin; and persistent skin lesions (e.g., rashes or sores). Most doctors, including dermatologists^[3] and psychiatrists,regard Morgellons as a manifestation of known medical conditions, including delusional parasitosis.

Despite the lack of evidence that Morgellons is a novel or distinct condition and the absence of any agreed set of diagnostic symptoms, the Morgellons Research Foundation and self-diagnosed Morgellons patients successfully lobbied members of Congress and the U.S. government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to investigate the proposed condition. The CDC researchers issued the results of their multi-year study in January, 2012, indicating that there were no disease organisms present in Morgellons patients, the fibers found were normal clothing fibers, and suggested that patients' sensations were manifestations of “delusional infestation”.

A new study published today sheds light on Morgellons disease, a controversial condition marked by crawling sensations in the skin.

In response to increasing reports of Morgellons symptoms, scientists from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed blood and skin samples from 115 patients in Northern California and found no evidence linking Morgellons to an infection or environmental cause.

What if it felt like there were tiny bugs crawling all over your body, causing oozing sores and mysterious fibers sprouting from your skin? That's how many people described their symptoms to government doctors several years ago, with health officials sometimes receiving up to 20 calls a day from sufferers.

Many of these people lived in California, prompting one of that state's U.S. senators, Dianne Feinstein, to ask for a scientific study. In 2008, federal health officials began to study people who said they were affected by this freakish condition called Morgellons disease - named from a 1674 medical paper that described similar symptoms.

What did the long-awaited study conclude? Morgellons exists only in the patients' minds.

Sufferers of Morgellons describe symptoms including fatigue, erupting sores, crawling sensations on their skin, and mysterious red, blue or black fibers sprouting from their skin. Some say they've suffered for decades.

The study, published Jan. 25 in the journal PLoS One, cost nearly $600,000. It focused on more than 3 million people who lived in 13 counties in Northern California. After researchers went through Kaiser Permanente patient records, they flagged 115 people who had what sounded like Morgellons. That's the equivalent of roughly 4 out of every 100,000 Kaiser enrollees. "So it's rare," said Mark Eberhard, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention official who was part of the 15-member study team. But when the researchers dug further to find a cause for the disease, they came up empty.

"We found no infectious cause," Eberhard said.

Jan Brewer came to greet President Obama upon his arrival outside Phoenix Wednesday. What she got was a critique. Of her book. The two leaders could be seen engaged in an intense conversation at the base of Air Force One's steps. Both could be seen smiling, but speaking at the same time. Asked moments later what the conversation was about, Brewer, a Republican, said, "He was a little disturbed about my book.""We could have been talking about a million different things," Brewer told reporters. "Bottom line is that he generally wants to talk about amnesty and I want to talk about securing our border."

Brewer and Obama "spoke intensely for a few minutes" after he landed at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, according to a White House pool report. At one point, the GOP governor shook her finger at the president.

"He was a little disturbed about my book," Brewer told a reporter after the incident, referring to her political memoir, "Scorpions for Breakfast." In the book, Brewer depicted Obama as "patronizing" during an earlier meeting.

"I said to him that I have all the respect in the world for the office of the president," Brewer said. "The book is what the book is. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt. So."

Brewer said Obama told her "that he didn't feel I had treated him cordially."

"I said I was sorry he felt that way but I didn't get my sentence finished," Brewer said. "Anyway, we're glad he's here. I'll regroup."

A White House official said Jan Brewer handed Obama a letter and said she was inviting him to meet with her. The official said Obama told her he would be glad to meet with her again. The official said Obama did note that after their last meeting, which the official described as a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in Jan Brewer's book.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation between the president and the governor.

Ryan O'Neal posed for the below Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department mug shot in September 2008 after a probation officer visiting his 24-year-old son Redmond discovered methamphetamine in the actor's bedroom. Redmond, on probation for two prior drug convictions, was also arrested and held along with his 67-year-old father on $10,000 bail.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said: “Deputies were doing a routine sweep to make sure Redmond was adhering to his probation. “Upon searching the premises, the younger O’Neal was found in possession of narcotics. Later, a vial of drugs were found in the elder O’Neal’s bedroom. We believe the drugs found were methamphetamines.”

Both men were released after posting $10,000 bail and neither Ryan nor Redmond – whose mother is Farrah Fawcett, 61 - appeared under the influence of drugs, the sheriff said. The 67-year-old ‘Love Story’ actor was arrested last year on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm after firing a gunshot during an argument with another son, Griffin, 43.

The funeral of Mark "Papa" Guardado, the 46-year-old president of the San Francisco chapter shot down after a barroom brawl, brought about 2,000 Hells Angels to Duggan's Serra Mortuary in Daly City, most driving the biggest, baddest, loudest Harleys ever.

They came Monday from chapters all over the country, not to mention Stuttgart, Germany; Alberta, Canada; and Melbourne, Australia.

An overflow crowd of hundreds of members sat or stood in the funeral home parking lot for two hours, creating a spectacle that attracted hundreds of gawkers and police from three cities.

Police were out in force last week, cracking down on what they called an "outlaw biker gang" that passed through Temecula on its way to a weekend gathering in San Diego County.

But if the Mongols Motorcycle Club is any indication, bikers are working on their image. The Mongols' president, 51-year-old Ruben "Doc" Cavazos, has a New York publicist and a new memoir about his life as a Mongol.

Cavazos said Wednesday that police in Riverside and San Diego counties harassed the group without provocation, stopping Mongols on motorcycles and searching their RVs for contraband.

"I think that the motorcycle clubs are truly the last group that you can violate their rights and nobody says anything," Cavazos said. "They stepped all over us this weekend."

The Mongols Motorcycle Club, shortened to "Mongols MC" is a motorcycle gang headquartered in southern California that was originally formed in Montebello, California in the 1970s. Law enforcement officials estimate there are approximately 350 members. In addition to their presence in southern California, the club claims chapters in Nevada, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Montana, Oregon, New York, Indiana, Florida, Virginia, Canada, and Mexico. Norwegian mainstream news also reports that the Mongols have spread to Scandinavia, April 2008. The Mongols Motorcycle Club states on their website that they have a chapter in Italy.

The Mongols motorcycle club is named after the nomadic tribes of northeast Asia, the Mongols that conquered the largest contiguous empire in world history. The Mongols MC main website includes a quote on the front page from Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire. If the ratings have a shelf life shorter than supermarket chicken, then they can't help you decide about whether a company can "make payments over many years."

Thousands of Kentuckians were still without power Monday morning after high winds swept across the state Sunday.

Kentucky Utilities spokesman Cliff Feltham said 31,000 KU customers across the state don't have power. Most of those people are west of Interstate 65.

Feltham said it could be a day or two before power is restored for all those customers.

About 75,000 KU customers were without power at one point, including 5,000 in Lexington.

Feltham said power has been restored to nearly all Lexington residents.

Also predicting funding problems for the major brokers and the financial system in general, banking analyst Dick Bove of Ladenburg Thalmann said Goldman and Morgan Stanley each may have to merge with a commercial bank to survive.

"We are in uncharted territory but it seems likely that all financial firms that extend credit will be pulling back on their credit lines," Bove said. "This will make it even harder for commercial firms and individuals to borrow money and it may result in demands for immediate debt repayment. This will harm the economy for an extended period."

Anna Willard (born March 31, 1984) is an American athlete who competes in middle distance track events. Willard set the U.S. women's record for the 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2008 United States Olympic track and field trials on July 3, 2008 in Eugene, Oregon en route to qualifying for the United States Olympic team.

Willard competed as an undergraduate for Brown University and as a graduate student for the University of Michigan. Willard became engaged to fellow American steeplechaser Jonathan Pierce at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials.
In the women’s 1500m, American Morgan Uceny won the meet in 4:07.22 followed in 5th and 6th by Amy Mortimer and Sara Hall in 4:08. 39 and 4:08.55 respectively.
In the men’s steeple, Paul Koech won in a world leading time of 8:00.57. American’s Kyle Alcorn and Billy Nelson finished together in 6 and 7th with times of 8:21.46 and 8:21.50.
In the men’s 1500m A heat Alan Webb finished in 6th with a 3:35.86. Webb obviously misjudged both his fitness and the competitiveness of the Olympic trials. He’ll be the fittest man in the world sitting home during the Olympics. Rob Meyers finished in 8th in 3:36.23. The B heat saw Americans finishing first, second, and fourth. With Will Leer winning in 3:37.63, Kurt Benninger in 3:38.03, and John Jefferson in 3:39.55.

Police in Lowell, Mass., Police in Lowell, Mass., say a promotional statue for the movie “The Incredible Hulk” disappeared from its spot in front of a local theater this week.

Police Capt. James McPadden says the statue is probably some kid’s bedroom. But he thinks more than one person was involved and that a car or pickup truck was needed to whisk it away.

The Hulk, who is the hero of the newly released film of the same name, was stolen between Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday morning.

Scott Kalitta died Saturday when his Funny Car burst into flames and crashed at the end of the track during the final round of qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J.

The NHRA said the 46-year-old Kalitta -- the 1994 and 1995 Top Fuel season champion who had 18 career victories, 17 in Top Fuel and one in Funny Car -- was taken to the Old Bridge division of Raritan Bay Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Kalitta's Toyota Solara was traveling at about 300 mph when it burst into flames.

Scott Kalitta's career began in the 1980s. He made his first win in 1989 at the NHRA's premiere series by taking the Funny Car event in Houston.

He would move to Top Fuel during the 1990s, and won his first event in this class at Topeka in 1993. He also set a national speed record at that race en route to his win.

The next two years were big for Kalitta, as he would win the Top Fuel championship both years, winning a combined 11 events. He would come back in 1996 with a second place points finish, and retired in 1997.

After an aborted comeback in 1999, Kalitta returned to Top Fuel in 2003, and in 2004 recorded another top five points finish. He would then go on to win 2.5 races in 2005.

For 2006, Kalitta returned to Funny Car in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, but did not have as much success as he had in Top Fuel the previous two years. In the season, Kalitta drove his Kalitta Air-sponsored Monte Carlo and Solara (which he switched to late in the year) to a 13th place points finish, well behind eventual champion John Force.

Kalitta's 2007 Funny Car season was rather uneventful, as he missed qualifying for 6 events in his DHL-sponsored Solara and missed the inaugural NHRA Countdown to the Championship. His best finish was a semi-finals appearance at Denver in July.

(CNN) -- Tornadoes tore across the nation's midsection for a second night Saturday, 24 hours after a storm leveled Greensburg, Kansas.

A tornado struck Sweetwater, Oklahoma, about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, causing major damage to a high school and other buildings.

"The tornado came through and just dead-center punched Sweetwater," Roger Mills County Sheriff Joe Hay told KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City. He said there was extensive damage but just one minor injury in the tiny town.

The storm continued to grind north through northwestern Oklahoma toward Kansas for more than 45 minutes.

KOCO's Matt Leinbauer reported seeing damage from another confirmed tornado just east of Arnett, Oklahoma.

At 9:45 p.m. CDT on May 4, 2007, Greensburg was hit by an EF5 tornado. The tornado was estimated to be 1.7 miles (2.7 km) in width and traveled for nearly 22 miles (35 km). Ninety-five percent of the city was confirmed to be destroyed, with the other five percent being severely damaged. The National Weather Service estimated winds of the tornado to reach 205 mph (330 km/h). This was the first tornado to ever be rated EF5 since the update of the Fujita scale. The Tornado had caused EF5 Damage at least one well built home in Greensburg, and also is the first "5" classification since May 3, 1999, when an F5 tornado ripped through Moore, Oklahoma, as part of the 1999 Oklahoma tornado outbreak. Tornado sirens sounded in the city twenty minutes before the tornado struck, and a tornado emergency was issued, which undoubtedly saved many lives. Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius and President George W. Bush both declared Kiowa County a disaster area,[16] which opened up the affected areas for national and international aid.

Roy is not fooled by the disguise, but convinced of their sincere wish to reform, adds them to the group. Most of the male travellers likewise fall victim to disaster, save for Buck and his courageous Japanese cook Ito (Henry Nakamura). Even when the wagon train reaches its destination, the story is far, far from over. Though second-billed Denise Darcel is the most prominent of the women, the large cast generally works as an ensemble, with everyone pitching together for the common good, just as their real-life counterparts had done back in the 1850s. Throughout, the film abruptly (and effectively) switches moods, veering precipitously from raucous comedy to profound tragedy (some of the deaths occur so suddenly that they can still elicit gasps from the audience). Sleepaway Camp Plot Summary

The main character of Sleepaway Camp, Angela Baker (Felissa Rose), and her cousin Ricky (Jonathan Tiersten), are sent to summer camp one summer. Angela had come to live with Ricky and her Aunt Martha eight years earlier, after her father and her brother Peter were killed in a boating accident. Angela, a painfully shy 14-year-old, is bullied severely by most of the other campgoers and counselors at Camp Arawak. Her main foil is Judy (Karen Fields), a vain girl once friendly with Ricky but now snubbing him in favor of the older boys.

Soon people from Sleepaway Camp begin to die in bizarre ways, such as a youth being stung to death by bees from a hive thrown into a bathroom. A female counselor is stabbed in a shower stall. The murderer turns out to be Angela; however, it is later revealed that Angela was actually her brother Peter. The real Angela had died in the boating accident eight years ago, and Peter was forced to assume her identity afterward because deranged Aunt Martha chose to raise Peter as a girl, treating him as if he were Angela. The film also implies that Angela/Peter's confused sexual identity occurred because she/he found out her/his father was in a homosexual relationship; a young Angela and Peter witnessed this behaviour and were seen giggling surruptitiously at them, then were later shown sitting on a bed in an experiment of their own, presumably "transferring" sexual identities to each other. Angela-Peter is last seen standing on the beach naked (male genitalia in full view) with the decapitated head of Paul (Christopher Collet) in her/his one hand while holding a knife in the other, the rest of his body at his/her feet.

In the commentary on the DVD, Hiltzik and Rose tease that perhaps Angela isn't the sole killer in the movie. In fact, the only real continuity error in the film involves the killing of campers at a tent site far enough away from the main camp that they took a car to get there in the same night that four other people were murdered.

Dry drowning is when a person's lungs become unable to extract oxygen from the air, due primarily to:

* Muscular paralysis
* Puncture wound to the torso (affecting ability of diaphragm to create respiratory movement)
* Changes to the oxygen-absorbing tissues
* Persistence of laryngospasm when immersed in fluid
* Breathing any gas other than oxygen, that does not kill the patient on its own, for too long. (e.g. Helium)

A mother in Charleston, S.C., is grieving the bizarre death of her 10-year-old boy.

On Sunday, Johnny Jackson begged his mother to let him and his sister swim for the first time. After swimming, the family had a normal walk home with no signs of anything being wrong with the boy.

About an hour after the swim, Johnny decided to take a nap. That's when the coroner says the pool water the 10-year-old ingested filled his lungs.

Instructions:

Step1

Determine whether the victim entered a body of water forcefully from a high diving board or slid down a long steep slide. These two activities have been associated with dry drowning. The victim involuntarily suffocates by holding his breath or experiencing a muscle spasm of the larynx.

Step2

Decide if it's possible the victim's epiglottis was hit forcefully with droplets of water. This causes the flap to spasm and close over the windpipe. Once it is closed, water and air are unable to enter the lungs.

Step3

Notice whether someone is choking or gagging while they are in or around water. It may be an indication that water has hit the epiglottis and caused spasms. This can happen in the water or after leaving the water and usually occurs 6 to 10 minutes after the water hits the epiglottis.

Step4

Examine a dry drowning victim, and it may reveal water in the stomach but not in the lungs. Water in the lungs indicates the victim was alive before submersion, but the absence of water indicates dry drowning or death before drowning.

Diddley died Monday, surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in Archer, Florida, a family spokeswoman said.

The cause was heart failure, his family said: "Diddley is survived by his brother, the Rev. Kenneth Haynes of Biloxi, Mississippi, his children, Evelyn Kelly, Ellas A. McDaniel, Tammi D. McDaniel and Terri Lynn Foster, as well as 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren."

O'Neil was arrested around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Clinton Street. Police said they found bags of cocaine and crack in her possession.

Arrested with her was 33-year-old Alan Garcia, who is believed to be the possible dealer.

Published reports said the 44-year-old actress initially told police she was doing research for an upcoming role, and that she pleaded to be let off the hook when the drugs were discovered.

O'Neil was in central booking in lower Manhattan early Monday, and was expected to be arraigned later.

This odd-looking establishment was designed by Hans Rudi Giger (HR Giger), who worked as a designer on the Alien movies, receiving multiple awards, including an OSCAR for best special effects.
I must say Giger did great work on this museum-bar, you must feel like you’re somewhere in the Alien universe or inside the skeleton of a monster. In any case it’s very original and refreshing,

After the big boom of Apple's iPhone on American market, Microsoft come with a new toy, Microsoft Surface.
"I call this touch-controlled and not touch-sensitive because unlike Apple's (AAPL) iPhone and a lot of other tech products out there, Surface isn't technically a touchscreen. Surface uses five cameras beneath the screen to track movement and even recognize patterns." (Microsoft uses a barcode-like system to allow Surface to recognize certain objects.)
Surface computers will start with Microsoft partners getting first shot at various public applications, you'll most likely see them in action in Las Vegas first. Microsoft though not specific on the costs hinted that the Surface Computer will sell for $ 5000 to $10,000, however that is just the initial cost as there would also be costs associated with teaching salespeople how to use it.

Sad news out of London tonight:

Robert Knox (photo, right), a British teenage actor playing a minor role in the upcoming Harry Potter movie, was stabbed to death during a brawl.

The 18-year old was fatally wounded after he was involved in a fight outside a bar in southwest London early Saturday, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement. Word leaking out is that he was defending his younger brother.

In the upcoming Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, set for a November release, Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby. Reportedly, he was one of five young men taken to various hospitals following the brawl, police said. Among them was a 21-year-old who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Called "104.7 the Fish", WFSH-FM is an FM Radio station in Atlanta, Georgia broadcasting at 104.7 MHz. The station format is called "Safe For The Whole Family", a hybrid of Christian pop and clean secular music with a mainstream feel. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas day, the station plays all Christmas songs.

WFSH-FM transmits from the tallest radio masts and towers in Georgia (2000 feet or 600m) in Longville, 30 miles (48 km) east of Atlanta. This new tower allows 104.7 to better penetrate office buildings in Atlanta.

Prior to its current designation, the frequency was occupied by Cox Radio's WALR-FM, the R&B format "Kiss 104.7" from the mid-1990's until 2000. The once local Athens signal of 50,000 watts at 104.7 was upgraded to class C1 to serve Atlanta in the late 80s. They debuted as Music Radio 104.7 with a Hot AC format. In late 2000, Kiss moved to 104.1 as "Kiss 104.1", to make room for Christian AC "104.7 the Fish". This was an asset exchange between Cox Houston and Salem Communications, which now owns and operates WFSH-FM.
